You Dont Have to Donate to Keep Me Writing

I have been writing content for the Internet for over 5 years now. When someone attempts to create a content-based website full of useful information they quickly learn that writing useful articles for free is not an easy task. People who found my articles useful are invited to make a personal donation. You can donate any amount you want whether it's $1 or $20. I want the reader to make a conscious choice when making the decision of what this amount should be.

Please think about what you gained learning from the article you just read

Was what you just learned from my article worth $10 to you? Or you think this knowledge has just saved you $100 in some way? I think it's up to you and your unique situation. I am grateful and appreciative of any amount received in any personal donation.

For example, one of my articles is about identifying the costs associated with building a website. I try to be very precise and specific about the numbers I provide in this article. If you learned that the website you wanted to create costs less than what you thought it did, then you could donate a small fraction of the amount of money you will be saving when hiring a website designer to make your website.

There is absolutely no obligation to donate any amount of money at all to continue reading any of the articles on my website. All content on all of my websites is offered for free to anyone who can take advantage of it in one way or another.

What happens when you donate?

I usually get pretty excited when I receive that email from PayPal saying I received a personal donation. This means that someone has made a conscious decision to send me money. Yes it feels good, but what's more important is that it lets me know that someone recognized the value of my work - the very point of why I am writing for the Internet audiences. It means that I have captured attention of someone. A person I don't even know who is looking for specific information and that in some ways it helped them learn something new.

Writing for free is hard. I don't receive donations every day. And even though I make a living with my websites, I don't make thousands of dollars each day, it's just enough to get by. So, why am I still doing it? With each website, my goal is to create a valuable resource for everyone who is looking for a specific kind of information. I usually write about the subjects I already know something about to share my knowledge. Other times I end up learning a lot about a specific subject myself.

The more I write, the more interesting things happen to me.

My OpenGL tutorials were chosen to be used as a reference in a programming book, without my knowledge. Something I found out about later. So, when my website went down, I did everything I could to bring it back online to make sure people who found links in the book wouldn't be disappointed.

Someone is learning from my articles as you're reading this sentence.

My content helps thousands of people every day to find answers to their questions. To date I have written over 200 articles published on several of my educational websites. If you are interested to learn more about them, you can locate them on the list at the bottom of this page.

The purpose of my writing has always been to provide people with educational articles. Something they can learn new things from. I choose my subjects carefully and usually base the subjects on an existing demand for information.

If I do not see how people could benefit from an article - I usually avoid writing it.

Some people like to support writers like myself, so I figured I'd have this page here. If you feel in the mood to help me continue producing great articles people love and can learn something new from (which is my primary goal) please submit your donation.
